On 20 May, Kyiv hosted an international forum on Innovations and Development in Sport in Times of War. The event brought together athletes, scientists, military personnel, veterans, international experts and government representatives. The main goal was to strengthen Ukrainian sport, support veterans and enhance security through innovation.
The forum was attended by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He addressed the participants with words of support.
«I have great respect for sport. I respect all those who glorify Ukraine, who do it for themselves, for their energy, for the state, and all those who train. When we talk about the military-technological direction, we must be number one. And I really want us to be at a high level in all other areas», – Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The President also emphasised the role of sports for veterans and the importance of creating a barrier-free environment: «Veterans are an integral part of society. They should feel equal. Sports infrastructure, programmes and spaces should be barrier-free».
